Tomorrow, Morgen, Mañana, Domani
Based in Prague, the WCN works to promote this annual event, when “people from around the world get together in the streets, intersections, and neighborhood blocks to remind the world that we don’t have to accept our car-dominated society.”
There’s WCD action in cities all over the world, including:
Consider taking a small (or large!) personal action in honor of WCD tomorrow. Here are a few ideas for you:
- OBVIOUS: Walk, bike, bus, or subway to work—or wherever you go tomorrow.
- SIMPLE: Tell a friend “Happy World Carfree Day!”
- FUN: Enjoy the schwag that comes with becoming a member of the World Carfree Network.
- GENEROUS: Support those hardworking Czechs at WCN with your hard-earned dollars.
Unfortunately, I’m not giving you enough notice to plan your own WCD event, but the event happens every September 22, so you can get inspired for next year by checking out what the network members have done to celebrate the event.
You can also read some pretty fascinating details of the history of WCD. Who knew that people have been trying to get cars on the road practically since they first got on them?
So? What will YOU do to celebrate car-free living?
